What do my clients think:

Discover how having a doula made a positive difference in the experience of the families I supported.

I worked with Erika remotely throughout my entire pregnancy, and I have to say I felt incredibly supported. She was always very attentive, and whenever I reached out with a question, fear, or concern, her responses were immediate. Emotionally, she was essential for me, and she also gave me many tools focused on childbirth. This is my second pregnancy and the first time I’ve worked with a doula, and now I know I would definitely do it again. Thank you, Erika!

While searching for our path, we found your footprints.

In a vulnerable, exciting, and new moment like pregnancy, being able to find someone who guides and supports you with respect and care transforms the word “fear” into uncertainty and excitement.

Thank you, Erika, for those sessions that helped us learn, let go, and empathize with all the experiences that were yet to come.

How beautiful it is to have someone who truly cares about you, who listens to you (listens to both of us — we both felt equally supported, each working through our own fears), who offers workshops that blend theory, practice, lived experience… and laughter. You were part of our support network throughout this process (and still are), and all we can wish for you is that you continue weaving new networks with the same love and care that you do now.

Birth preparation and postpartum hospital visit.

Erika was an incredible support during one of the most important moments of my life. As an international expat giving birth in Madrid without family or friends nearby, I was especially anxious about caring for my one-year-old son, Archie, while I was in labour.

Erika stepped in exactly when we needed her, coming to the hospital, supporting me through labour, and seamlessly coordinating with my partner by caring for Archie and swapping when needed so my partner could be by my side.

She understood my birth preferences, helped translate between English and Spanish, and used massage techniques that eased the pain. More than just a doula, Erika became a very good friend and continues to be there for me and my family long after we needed her most.

Hospital birth

We met Erika a few weeks before the birth. She came to our home with our midwife. From the very beginning, the energy she transmitted to us was wonderful. During the days leading up to the birth, she quickly clarified any doubts that came up. On the day of the birth, she provided us with truly wonderful holistic support. I’m very grateful for the way she knew how to be present and support us through every moment of the birth. During the postpartum period, she has also been very attentive both to my health and the baby’s, helping us with any questions or concerns we had. Thank you so much, Erika!

Feedback for Erika, my doula

First of all, I want to say that I can no longer imagine my birth preparation, the birth itself, or the postpartum period without the presence and support of a doula. Thanks to Erika, I now completely understand why.

She came into my life when there were only a few weeks left before the birth, and despite the short time we had, she gave everything and more to help me with what I needed. She not only answered my questions about childbirth, but was also there to support me with any doubts that came up throughout the process. Her unconditional support and constant availability to respond were the most valuable help I could have received at that moment.

My rating is the highest possible, because I never imagined that having the support of a doula could be so beneficial both for me and for my baby. Beyond her professional role, I feel that I’ve also gained a friend. I’m convinced that every pregnant woman needs this kind of support, and the fact that she shared her personal experience made everything even more meaningful to me.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Erika.

Antonina

childbirth preparation, doula hotmail and postpartum visit

Erika was a great support in helping me work through my fears and emotional blocks around childbirth. She gave me very valuable tools to see the situation from a different perspective and to feel at peace.

Once I felt calm and was able to let go and trust the process, my labor started that very same night.

¿And what about the scientific evidence;

In this section, I share excerpts from scientific articles that support the role of the doula.

Continuous support for women during labor.

Meghan A Bohren; G Justus Hofmeyr ;G Justus Hofmeyr ;Carol Sakala ;Rieko K Fukuzawa ;Anna Cuthbert , 2017.

https://doi.org/10.1002/14651858.CD003766.pub6

15,858 women provided usable data for the outcome analysis. These trials were conducted in 17 different countries: 13 trials took place in high-income settings, 13 in middle-income settings, and there were no studies conducted in low-income countries. Women who were assigned continuous support were more likely to have a spontaneous vaginal birth and less likely to report negative evaluations or feelings about their birth experience. Subgroup analyses suggested that continuous support was most effective in reducing cesarean births when the support person acted in a doula role and in settings where epidural analgesia was not routinely available.

Intrapartum Doula Support and Cesarean Delivery Rates

Dias et al, 2025.

Doula support during labor was associated with a lower rate of cesarean births compared to standard care. The authors conducted a systematic review of randomized clinical trials and observational studies comparing in-person doula support during labor with standard care. Studies published in Ovid Medline, Embase.com, Scopus, Cochrane Central, and ClinicalTrials.gov before August 30, 2024, were searched.

Care Practice #3: Continuous Labor Support

Jeanne Green , Debby Amis , Barbara A Hotelling; 2007.

Labor can surprise you (and your partner) with its intensity. Having an experienced woman by your side to reassure you and confirm that labor is progressing normally will help both of you cope better. A woman experienced in childbirth will also know how to provide comforting touch, such as massage, and suggest positions that support labor progress and increase your comfort.
